Message I have a high heat weller iron, and a butane as well. The butane is inconsistent, does not get as hot as the weller, and the "exhaust" can be irritating if working in tight spaces (very hot air coming out of there).

Get a high-wattage weller iron, heat your soldering joints from below and melt the solder onto the wires from above (no need for crimps), and very importantly - always clean the iron after each solder. A wet sponge, or a balled up wet paper towel works well. This keeps the "hot spot" of the tip clean and working as it should.
